Thanks for the response. I remember well as an evangelical having all of those sorts of arguments: what constitutes a “biblical model” of church leadership? And so forth. The fact is that everyone has their opinion, with a spate of proof-texts to back them up. I don’t think I’m asking the wrong question; and in fact, I’m pointing out the many flaws within evangelicalism that leads pastors to experience burnout, exhaustion, anxiety, depression and PTSD, for a start.
