I think that is true for a lot of us…progressive Christians like Bell, McLaren, and Miller helped kickstart my own deconstruction too. And yes, I will say that I learned a lot from my time in evangelicalism, particularly academic and critical thinking skills. Part of reconstructing is to realize what elements from your past were valuable or helpful.
